Soap used to clean up diesel spilled in the
water of the marina. This happens EVERY TIME
they fuel the vessels, and when they do maintenance
on the boats. They do not use bilge pads.
They do not clean their bilges. And they
fuel with a pump without an automatic shut
off and do not attend to the fueling while
it is ongoing, meaning it always overflows.
Also, the tanks use threaded pipe fillers,
around which are placed plastic hose, which
of course leaks diesel into the bilges when
the tank is overfilled, which is how they
know to stop filling (!!!). That diesel then
gets pumped out of the boat and into the
water...at the islands and whalesharks they
give tours to see.
You will see hundreds of diesel spill images.
Note the date of the photographs. While some
are of the same spill, because they are too
large to photograph, most are in fact individual
spills, and we haven't even documented most
of them, only the ones we see when we can
photograph them, and when we are consciously
aware that we need to.
